![]() The Master League meta needs more champions against Zacian. And now we get to touch on the Ultra Beast that started it all, Nihilego-GX! Still arguably the strangest of the bunch. Just please, Niantic Employee reading this, at least give Nihilego Poison Jab and either Rock Slide or Sludge Bomb (both, both would be excellent). There’s a lot of interesting potential here, so my fingers are crossed Niantic doesn’t sandbag it with Charge Moves like Power Gem and Sludge Wave. That’s about all you need to know about Nihilego until its moveset gets added to the Game Master. Unfortunately, this may rob Mega Venusaur of its niche, but Mega Venusaur will likely beat Nihilego and is confirmed to counter Mega Gyarados, so Mega Venusaur still stands proud. This paired with Nihilego’s Zacian, Zarude, and general Fairy-type dominance could make Nihilego an optimal pick in a Mega Master Meta. In the theoretical Mega Master Meta, Nihilego could have a halfway decent Mega Gyarados matchup, and could possibly take it should it receive Thunderbolt or Grass Knot. Of Nihilego’s available movepool from the MSG, Foul Play could be a useful 2nd Charge Move to pair with whatever STAB Charge Moves it gets to at least give it a neutral hit on these threats. Its main problem will be opposing Steel and Ground-type Pokemon, such as but not limited to Dialga. Nihilego also could have positive matchups against Fairy-types in general, Flying-types like Lugia and Ho-Oh, and a handful of neutral matchups as well. Should it get Poison Jab (please Mr.Hanke, it’s a jellyfish, Tentacruel is a Jellyfish and it gets Poison Jab), Nihilego is one of the few Pokemon in existence that can comfortably farm down Zacian at a shield disadvantage. In Master League PvP, Nihilego actually has some real potential. ![]() Its only potential perk is managing Walrein better, but Walrein’s Earthquake will easily remove this Poison/Rock-type Pokemon from this dimension. ![]() Even with the most ideal moveset possible, Nihilego lags behind. ![]() In Ultra League PvP, Nihilego likely won’t have much play over Nidoqueen or Alolan Muk. In Great League PvP, Nihilego cannot fit under 1500 CP. #Nihilego cardsmith seriesNihilego doesn’t learn any Rock-type Fast Moves in the main series games, so it likely won’t be an optimal Rock-type Attacker. Even in the abscence of Sludge Bomb, Nihilego’s higher overall stat line suggests it’ll be an optimal Poison-type Raid Attacker regardless (provided it at least gets Sludge Wave or Gunk Shot). This is provided of course that it at least gets Poison Jab or Acid as a Fast Move and Sludge Bomb as a Charge Move. Nihilego has 243 Atk, which is larger than Roserades, suggesting it could be the best non-Mega, non-Shadow Poison-type Raid Attacker. Its single weakness to Psychic and Steel suggests Mewtwo, Metagross, and their Shadow counterparts won’t be too shabby either. This dual-type gives Nihilego a doubled up weakness to Ground, so get your Excadrill, Lando, Garchomp, Groudon, Rhyperior army ready. Nihilego is a Rock/Poison dual-type Pokemon with a relatively balanced stat line. Ultra Beasts do have their own unique classification in the current Pokemon GO Game Master, suggesting their treatment might not be 100% the same as Legendaries, but I’d expect them to be restricted to Special Trades, excluded from Classic Cups, and unable to be put in Gyms (but Melmetal gets in Gyms so who knows). Nihilego is an Ultra Beast, which is effectively a Legendary Pokemon. I’ll cover most of what you need to know here on reddit, but for more details check out the article on GamePress.Īlso, if you want to get learned up on all the Ultra Beasts, my colleague u/tforge13 as a nice summary article up on all 11.Īlso also, if you’d prefer this information in an audio-visual format, check out my video on Nihilego. So I threw together Nihilego and its place in the Meta. ![]() At any rate, Trainers want to know what this jellyfish is all about- its best Raid counters, if it’s good in Raids, if it’s good in PvP. Current speculation is that Nihilego will be debuting as early as June 5th. Nihilego was teased recently to come soon in Pokemon GO. ![]()
